Exploring upstream sourcing and supply-chain development between Africa and Europe
Origin Sourcing explores early-stage ingredient sourcing opportunities for nutrition, health, and cosmetic applications, at the intersection of origin, supply chains, and European market requirements.
The focus is on assessing commercial viability, identifying structural and regulatory risks, and understanding where and why upstream ingredient supply chains succeed or fail before scale.
Areas of focus
Origin Sourcing focuses on a limited number of upstream questions relevant to ingredient sourcing for nutrition, health, and cosmetic applications, including:
– Early-stage feasibility of origin-based ingredients against European market requirements
– Supply-chain design, including traceability, quality consistency, and regulatory readiness
– Structural and institutional risks affecting upstream sourcing at origin
– Understanding where and why certain ingredient supply chains scale, while others do not
Origin Sourcing is an independent initiative based in the Netherlands and operating across Africa. It draws on experience working in politically and operationally complex environments across West, East, and Southern Africa, including fragile and post-conflict settings where governance, incentives, and supply chains intersect.
The work focuses on early-stage assessment and feasibility, prior to any commercial engagement. Origin Sourcing does not represent suppliers or trade products.
